- Lieutenant Hikari
- You plan for eleven contingencies before breakfast. I plan for none and I'm still alive. Explain that.
- Lieutenant Akira
- Luck isn't a plan, Hikari.
- Lieutenant Hikari
- No, it's a personality. Yours could use one.
- Lieutenant Hikari
- Your hands were shaking on the approach vector. Don't tell me it's the cold, Akira. Mine started last month.
- Lieutenant Akira
- Sync degradation. The harder we fly, the worse it gets. Whatever our machines are doing to us, it's the same thing on both sides of this war.
- PILOT
- Which means it's not a malfunction. It's a design.
- Lieutenant Akira
- There's one man who'd know. Professor Fujimoto — the architect of the neural interface. He vanished eight years ago. We found him.
- Lieutenant Hikari
- Then let's go ask the good professor what he built us into.
After floor 8· beat 2
- Professor Fujimoto
- Go away. I don't consult, I don't repent, and I certainly don't help pilots who are already... oh. Oh no. Your eyes. Both of you. How long have you had the tremors?
- Lieutenant Hikari
- Months. You recognize it. WHAT is it?
- Professor Fujimoto
- My greatest work, coming home to roost. Come inside. Quickly. And you — the mercenary — watch the door. What I'm about to say has killed everyone who's heard it.
- PILOT
- Door's covered. Talk fast, Professor.

- Lieutenant Nakamura
- Yamamoto's locker is still packed for a tour he is not coming back from. Command asked if anyone wants to sort it. Nobody has volunteered. Understandably.
- Ensign Asami
- I will do it. Someone should, and it should be someone who liked him, not a stranger with a clipboard.
- Sergeant Yuki
- there is a photo of a girl in his flight jacket pocket. I think that is his daughter. I did not open it, I just saw the corner.
- Lieutenant Nakamura
- Send it to Command sealed, Sergeant. Some things do not belong in an inventory log.
After floor 2· beat 2
- Lieutenant Nakamura
- Squad rumor mill says Fujimoto is some kind of hermit genius who vanished eight years ago. In my experience "vanished" usually means "made to disappear." I would like to be wrong.
After floor 4· beat 3
- Ensign Asami
- whatever the professor told Akira and Hikari in there, they came out looking like they aged five years. nobody is talking about it
