Mission start· beat 1
- Major Kenji
- Orders are in. Frontal assault on Fort Delta. Again. Third wave this month.
- Ensign Asami
- That's... that fortress ate two divisions already. Somebody at Command has to know that, right? Right??
- Major Kenji
- They know, Asami. They're spending us anyway. Yusuke, you fly rear cover. Rookie — you keep him alive.
- Ensign Yusuke
- Rear cover, copy. Statistically the safest slot in the whole formation. I've run the math on it. More than once. It helps.
- PILOT
- Understood, Major. Everyone comes home.
- Major Kenji
- Don't make promises this place will make you eat, kid.
After floor 3· beat 2
- Ensign Yusuke
- Can I tell you something stupid, before we hit the next floor?
- PILOT
- Go ahead.
- Ensign Yusuke
- The dog. The one in the photo I carry. It's not mine. Never had a dog — never had a house long enough to keep one alive in, growing up. Found the photo in a supply crate two years back and I just... kept it.
- Ensign Yusuke
- I tell everyone it's good luck. That's not really it. I just like knowing that somewhere, some family has a dog that happy to see them come home. I run the numbers on everything else in my life. Never wanted to run them on that. Some things I'd rather just believe are true without checking.
- PILOT
- That's not stupid, Yusuke.
- Ensign Yusuke
- Statistically, it's a little stupid. But statistically, so is hope, and everyone still seems to think that one's worth keeping around. So — same policy. I make it home from this one, I'm getting an actual dog. Already decided. No math required.
After floor 6· beat 3
- Ensign Yusuke
- STATIC: Rear guard's holding — more contacts than the brief promised, but the medevac corridor's still open. Ran the numbers on this one too. Didn't like them. Doesn't matter. Corridor stays open.
- PILOT
- ...
- Sergeant Yuki
- Yusuke's frame... I lost his signal on floor four. I kept calling. He didn't... he never...
- Major Kenji
- He held the breach so the medevacs could lift. That's the whole report. That's the whole damn report they'll reduce him to.
- PILOT
- I was ten meters away, Kenji. There was nothing left to save. That's on Fort Delta, not on you.
- Major Kenji
- It's on whoever ordered this. And one day, I'm going to ask them why — with my targeting computer on.

Mission start· beat 1
- Major Kenji
- Orders are in. Frontal assault on Fort Delta. Third wave this month.
- Ensign Yusuke
- I ran the numbers on this deployment three times. I am not going to share them. Some things are better as a private hobby.
- Ensign Asami
- yusuke that is somehow WORSE than sharing them
- Sergeant Yuki
- rear cover with you again, Yusuke. same as last time. try not to make me laugh mid-mission, I need to concentrate.
- Ensign Yusuke
- No promises. Comedy is also a coping mechanism. It is in my numbers too.
After floor 2· beat 2
- Ensign Asami
- yusuke says he is bringing the dog picture again for luck. it is not even his dog. it is a stock photo. he refuses to explain
- Ensign Yusuke
- It works. I am not required to explain things that work.
After floor 4· beat 3
- Sergeant Yuki
- Rear line holding steady out here. Quieter than the front, for once.
- Ensign Yusuke
- Quiet is good. My numbers like quiet.
